Did a bigger battery really fix my slow starts? Land Cruiser owners, help - broganellis - 10-13-2026 Okay so I need some honest opinions, because I am about to spend money and still feel unsure. My Land Cruiser has been cranking slowly for about two weeks, mostly early in the morning after a hot night in the open parking. The battery is nearly three years old, so I guess it had a good run. The shop guy said I should go for a bigger one, around 100Ah, but he said it so fast that I could not even ask why. At home I looked around and read a Reliable Varta 100Ah battery review, and from what I understood the number shows how much energy the battery can store, so a higher number helps if your car has a lot of extras. Mine does, to be fair. I have a dash cam, a small fridge for trips and some extra lights, so maybe it makes sense. But I also wonder if I am being sold something I do not need. Does a bigger battery always fit in the same space, or do you have to check the tray and cables first? Can it cause any problem if it is larger than the original one? And does it really last longer in the heat here, or is that just shop talk? One more thing, I heard they are quite heavy, so is it okay to carry it myself or should the shop always fit it? If you changed yours lately, please tell me what you chose, what you paid and how long it lasted. Plain answers are best for me. |
