Porsche owners in Abu Dhabi, am I overthinking the independent shop thing? - roybryant - 09-29-2026

I've had my 911 for about three years now and it's been dealer serviced the whole time mostly because I was scared of voiding anything or getting subpar work done. But the last service bill genuinely made me sit down, and now I'm wondering if I'm just burning money out of habit. The thing is, I know independents can be hit or miss, and with a car like this one wrong move on the PDK or the cooling system and you're in a world of pain. Someone on a WhatsApp group I'm in kept going on about an Expert Porsche workshop for owners across Abu Dhabi and how they actually use proper diagnostic equipment instead of generic OBD readers, which got me curious. My main concern is whether they can handle things like the IMS bearing check and brake fluid changes to spec, since those seem to trip up the average garage. Has anyone here made the switch from dealer to independent and actually been happy with it? Or is this one of those cases where you just suck it up and stay loyal to the dealer?
